Since its introduction, Live has become popular among electronic music artists for its ability to allow spontaneous manipulation of audio in a performance situation. Practically any operation can be controlled via MIDI. This is a digital audio workstation (DAW) environment for recording audio and MIDI with an emphasis on working in real time, essentially allowing the user to play the software as an instrument. Our Sterling Digibinder Plus perfect binder is capable of a maximum 12 1/2″ spine and 2″ thickness. The Dye Sublimation transfer printer is a 54″ Mimaki TS30-1300 paired with a 44″ x 64″ heat press. The inkjet printers are Canon models with a capacity of up to 60” wide and the laser cutter’s capacity is up to 24×36″. Access will include a digital large-format printing facility, and facilities for the production of laser cutting, stone lithography, polymer plate – photo intaglio, woodblock, Dye Sublimation transfer prints, bookbinding, and silkscreen printing. The IEA’s Experimental Print Media Program Residency is particularly looking for artists who want to explore Digital Printmedia technologies to further and expand their working practice.Artists will have access to state-of-the-art digital arts facilities. Residency artists have additional limited scheduled access to Expanded Media Video Studios and historical legacy video systems including the Sandin IP, the Dave Jones Design, FB-1 Frame Buffer (B&W), the Fairlight CVI with an Ikegami color camera and two B&W Ikegami cameras and three Dave Jones Design, Digital Oscillators (video and audio system with Core). DAW’s include Adobe Audition, Ableton Live Suite 10, Reaper64 with GRM tools and Soundhack plugins.Available for location/field recording are a Panasonic 4K HC-VX981 Video Camera, Canon EOS 5d Mark III DSLR camera, Lenovo Mirage 180°VR camera with Daydream headset and Tascam DR-100 audio recorder. The audio in the studio includes Quadraphonic monitoring, RME Fireface UFX and PreSonus AR8 Audio mixer and a Stanton T.92 digital turntable. Systems also include two Mac Pro 3.5 GHz 6-core workstations with a range of software including the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, DaVinci Resolve, Max 7, Touch Designer, Maya and Mudbox, Ableton Live Suite 10 with Max for Live and EboSuite video effects plug-ins. Camera inputs are available via both Mac workstations plus two camera inputs are on the ATEM Video Mixer. The studio system includes video capture in Pro-res 422, together with a live HD/4K video production Switcher/Mixer/Keyer and three Panasonic 4K HC-VX981 Video Cameras, and additional Canon Vixia HV40 cameras. The IEA video and sound studio offers artists an integrated system with real-time video, image-processing software, hardware and video capture.
